Sorry I just now got around to posting this, but I got an email about a month ago from Old Timer Cliff Washburn.
This is Cliff Washburn. I’m the band director at Eufaula High School. Drew Mabry came and worked my band camp last week and mentioned the new AU trombone site. I was in the trombone section in 1999, but then moved to baritone per Dr. Good’s instructions… haha. Anyway, I have a few old trombone pictures that y’all might want. One is of the trombone section at the 1999 RAT banquet, the 2nd is the trombone section from 2000 (I think.) WAR DAMN EAGLE, and WAR DAMN TROMBONES!!

I also got an email today from Paul Wright, an Old Timer from the early 90s, who hailed himself as the Theta Beta Nu Grandmaster Mack Daddy.
Actually, I’m not, but I am probably the oldest person who worked VERY hard to create and maintain many of the traditions you have loyally demonstrated on the thetabetanu.com website! I almost brought tears to my eyes to see the logo I created in 1993, the D.T.E.S.S. logo, still in use! And the Original HolyBone was MY horn, flattened by my truck during the Trombone Party of 1990, then nailed (by myself) to one of the pine trees at the end of the Bodie Dome (are those trees still standing?).
I only just now went through the site, and I must say I’m amazed at how much of the Traditions are still remembered! I will be glad to pass on a few that have fallen through the cracks over the years, and I can offer you a PDF collection of Eighth Positions from 1989 to 1996, give or take a few issues.
Give me a shout, if you want some back-story.

We’re looking forward to hearing more Paul, shoot me an email!

Old-timers me foot! What about 57-61? I realize that I’m an antique but my slide oil (Pond’s C Cold Cream) still is tinged with orange and blue. I was in Bodies’ band his second season. What a joy and privilege to have been under his direction. All of us are not dead, nor have all of our brains turned to fish-food. Viva “old-timers” (I mean “real” old-timers, Methusleh style - War Eagle!
